About the Hunt

Whether it’s your first time, or a return visit, this page gives you a clear look at what to expect throughout your experience at Buck Valley Ranch. From planning your arrival and settling into camp, to time in the field and processing your harvest, our goal is simple: make sure every guest feels confident, comfortable, and ready for an unforgettable Texas hunting experience.

Before You Arrive

Before you ever step into the field, our team is already at work. Your guide monitors activity and movement of your target species to understand patterns across the ranch.

From there, they build a tailored hunting strategy based on current conditions, animal movement, and your selected hunt style: whether bow or rifle.

Once the plan is in place, your guide ensures your blind or stand is properly prepared, well positioned, and ready for your arrival, so you can focus entirely on the hunt ahead.

Arrival

Upon arrival at the ranch, hunters will get settled in for the experience ahead. We’ll give you a tour of the property and facilities, go over the plan for your hunt, and answer any questions before heading into the field.

Before the hunt begins, hunters will take a shot or two at the range, bow or rifle, to ensure everything is properly dialed in and ready for the hunt.

During the Hunt

When it’s time to hunt, your guide will lead the experience in the field and take you to your designated setup. Your guide will be seated next to you if you are rifle hunting, and will be ready to assist and provide support at all times if you are bow hunting.

They will also help identify animals in the field and let you know when an animal is within your target size, so you can make confident decisions throughout the hunt.

Every moment in the field is intentional—driven by observation, timing, and conditions on the ranch.

After the Hunt

After the harvest, your guide will assist you in recovering your animal and transporting it to our cleaning station. From there, they will CAPE, clean and quarter out your animal.

For guests interested in additional services, we have a trusted relationship with a local taxidermist and meat processor and can help coordinate those arrangements if desired.

Your animal will also be scored as part of the process.
