When Can You Hunt?
When Can You Hunt?
Hunting at Buck Valley Ranch is available year round.
Hunting Whitetail Deer in Texas is controlled by Texas hunting rules. Normally, in Kerr County where Buck Valley is located bow season is in October. Rifle season is November and December. There's an added season for does and spike bucks the first part of January. You can visit the Texas Parks and Wildlife Website for more detailed information.
At Buck Valley Ranch the Whitetail season begins in beginning of October and ends in late February. This extension is possible because Buck Valley Ranch has obtained a Managed Land Deer Permit from Texas Parks and Wildlife. This permit is part of a Wildlife Management Plan developed in cooperation with Texas Parks and Wildlife to enhance the Whitetail population at Buck Valley Ranch. For hunters, key benefits of the plan include the extended hunting season and use of deer tags provided by Buck Valley Ranch, not the hunter.
Exotic animals, those not native to Texas, are not controlled by Texas hunting rules. These animals may be hunted at any time. Generally speaking the best times will be the early fall, winter, spring and early summer. November and December are busy with Whitetail hunters making it more difficult to schedule an exotic hunt. However, Whitetail hunters who see an exotic animal they want to harvest are always welcome to do so.
Early fall, winter, spring and early summer avoid the Whitetail hunting season and offer great weather for hunting. Summer hunting is available but during a serious hot spell the animals are reluctant to move when there's enough light to see them.
If you really want to hunt some of our great Whitetail you're can only hunt from October to February. But, if you're just itching for some good hunting we're ready to help you have a great time harvesting the great animal of your choice whenever you're ready.
